Top 10 tips for great video projection
1 Choose the brightest projector that your budget will allow. There is a big difference between a 2500 ansi SD NTSC table top projector and a 5000 ansi HD-SDi projector, especially if you are showing video or graphics in a well lit room.

2 The size of screen(s) should be proportional to the size of audience and room size you have. A good rule of thumb is an equation of 1/10. If the room is 100ft long divide by 10 and your screen height should be approx 10ft tall. For HD that would be 9x16ft screen and for SD that would be 10.5x14ft screen

3 Check the manufacturers recommendations as to whether the projector needs to be placed level with the bottom of the screen, or whether the projector needs to be in the center of the height of the screen. This helps reduce keystone, having to lens shift too much and helps with focus on the screen edges.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Show

Mercedes Benz Fashion Show, NY.

I love this MBFS video with DL1961. Just for a few minutes look at the setting, the openness of the runway for the dancers and the models, the unobtrusive audio, two video cameras and an assortment of ground supported lighting to see how the designer transforms a simple building into a fashion show.

Sometimes its not the cost of the design that makes the event work, it is the uniqueness of the venue. This video so reminds me of the years I spent doing fashion shows in Europe in dealerships for Audio, Citroen and Renault where we would do exactly this – transform the dealership into a state of the art fashion show.

Barco DP4K-P postproduction projector

Barco 4K projector

Barco has launched the world’s first 4k projector solely with the post production market in mind. Called the DP4K-P, it has a dedicated 4k input board with 4 x 3Gb/s inputs allowing playback in native 4K, combined with a new color filter to accurately match colors to any color gamut.

“To achieve best-in-class performance for postproduction, we have equipped our DP4K-P with purpose-designed components such as a 4K input board and a high-contrast lens,” comments Goran Stojmenovik, Product Manager at Barco.
